Macallan 73 Year Old Red Collection
The Macallan 73 Year Old is a guest release, joining the other exquisite, aged expressions of The Red Collection. This range of distinguished and rare single malt Scotch whiskies captures the deep respect for tradition and craftsmanship which The Macallan holds dear.
Laid down in cask on the 10th November 1950, this whisky has been bottled at the peak of its richness and depth. The bottle is finished by hand, bearing the signature of The Macallan Lead Whisky Maker, Euan Kennedy, and is encased within a handcrafted oak presentation box. At 44.9% abv, this is an impressive strength for a whisky aged for over seven decades.
The nose is incredibly intricate, with a medley of antique oak, apricot jam, fine liquorice and treacle tart. Initally sweet and mouthcoating, the palate brings forth flavours of dates, sweet woodsmoke, bittersweet treacle toffee and a hint of aromatic leafiness, before a finish of soft tannins, subtle spice and continued minerality.
