The Last Drop 56 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky
This blended Scotch from The Last Drop Distillers is the oldest expression every released by the company. Crafted with at least 60% single malt whiskies, the youngest component was laid down in 1963, a monumental year in the 20th century bearing witness to Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech and the assassination of President John F Kennedy. Matured for the first two decades in sherry butts before a long and slow period of finishing in ex-bourbon wood, this grandee of whisky was finally bottled in 2019 at an age of 56 years. Just 732 bottles have been filled and each one is presented in a handsome case with a 5cl miniature, custom made stopper and luxury tasting book.
The nose has a wealth of floral qualities alongside vanilla and a touch of smoke, before chocolate and spice emerge. The palate brings more of the chocolate and spice, opening up to reveal sweet buttered toast and an exceptional balance, before a satisfying and long-lasting finish.
