Bunnahabhain 1980 Canasta Cask Finish
This Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain distillery has breathed the briny coastal air of the Sound of Islay for more than 14,000 days. Distilled in 1980, the liquid was first matured in Oloroso sherry casks before being transferred to sweet Canasta sherry oak. Only 1,200 bottles have been produced, each one at a cask strength of 49.5% abv and housed in a beautiful wooden presentation case with a quilted leather interior. There’s rich oak, dried fruits, figs, raisins and sultanas on the nose, all balanced with rich treacle, dark chocolate and vanilla. The palate has more rich oak, treacle and dried fruits, with black coffee and cocoa alongside roasted nuts and a touch of coastal brine. The finish is dry but lingering with sweet fruit and oak notes.
